Lateral Shortcuts® Project
Desigual
In 2020, the global clothing brand Desigual suffered from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, accelerating a decline in sales that had already started years ago. We used the energy of this challenging situation to drive change. We discovered and prioritised challenges as well as non-obvious potentials & resources. We created "Desigual’s Innovation & Design Process 2020+" as well as “formulas” for how to translate visions into tangible product innovation effectively and easily.
Unknotting global challenges across disciplines in just one week. Nadine Meisel helped Airbus Fire Safety and 10 worldwide stakeholders discover and leverage their non-obvious resources, co-create their common project vision, an optimised process chain, the simulation software architecture, and the top level roadmap. With her purpose-driven approach, Nadine was able to leverage the scientists’ expertises to shorten their processes by half and maximise the outcome to be implemented directly.

To inspire 80 top consultants with content and fun experiences Beyond the Box, Nadine Meisel let the participants experience her Lateral Shortcuts® methodology by applying it to a challenge as difficult as: “How to travel to the moon”. We succeeded, boosted innovative energy & team spirit and continued the “space ship” travel experience until late that night. Outcome: Learning of a powerful methodology by applying it to an impossible seeming challenge and giving an unforgettable experience.

Co-creating repeatable big business for Bosch. With the CEO of Bosch's grow platform worldwide, his senior management team, users and experts, we co-created, defined and optimised grow 2.0’s goals, its product, an innovation process as well as required actions and responsibilities for a successful implementation in a highly dynamic, interactive and visual way. The result was an innovation process to co-create “repeatable & replicable big business for Bosch.
”Innovation without investment” by leveraging Hailo’s essences in just 1 week. It was time to innovate and strengthen Hailo’s number one position for stairs and garbage bins in the international market. Through tiny modifications in existing products and services, Nadine Meisel created big value gains that were easy to implement in different areas of the company. Deliveries included 3 Business Strategy concepts, 3 product-service transformations and 3 concrete patentable Product Design proposals.

Discovering and leveraging non-obvious resources across companies and departments. Nadine Meisel got sent to various companies and departments of SUEZ to discover and tackle difficult challenges of any kind (from corporate strategy to service design, technical or human resource related issues) with her Lateral Shortcuts® approach. She run several consulting projects (including workshops) across companies and departments – for SUEZ, Grupo Agbar, Aqualogy, Cetaqua and Crea.

Telefonica Alpha
Alpha’s top innovators from all over the world used Nadine Meisel’s cross-scientific “Plato’s Cave Experience” project (see first experience @ZKM) to experiment with the relativity of reality in a series of inspirational talks & experiments. After they tested the device, we translated the insights gained into Beyond the Box opportunities for a healthier world. Feedback among others: ”We got enough insights and material to be inspired and to keep working on them for years.”

Series of Strategic Design & Innovation Consulting Projects & Workshops
The car industry is challenged and in need for new approaches. In several consulting projects with SEAT senior managers, we applied the Lateral Shortcuts® methodology to reframe their challenges and co-created a series of “New E-Mobility Business Opportunities, Services & Products” as well as “Future After Sales Business” Strategies among others. Five of the created “Business Opportunity” concepts and four of the Strategy concepts were selected for implementation and two were implemented within two years.

Positioning the brand in the used cars sector by applying new technologies. Together with Mercedes-Benz’s top executives and international experts in digitalisation and used-car sharing, we co-created various new ways for how to position the Mercedes Benz brand in the used car sector. Outcome: We co-created new approaches as well as concrete solutions and actions to implement those easily by using Daimler’s existing resources with new technologies. This project was contracted through Roland Berger.

Revlon Professional Brands
Hairdressers are one of the most important but difficult to maintain distribution channels for Revlon products as they are very picky and need to be convinced and convince their clients to choose and promote Revlon over others. In a consulting project, including a 2 day Lateral Shortcuts® workshop for Revlon's international marketing team, we co-created new products & services to make the salon experience unforgettable for the hairdresser & final consumer.
How to differentiate from Linkedin strengthening own unique assets? Nadine Meisel conceptualised and facilitated a product discovery workshop as creativity and innovation driver, applying Lateral Thinking as well as gamestorming techniques and exercises in co-creation with relevant users. Results: Surprisingly deep insights and understanding of the market. New strategy concepts to overtake Linkedin by leveraging Xing’s own unique assets e.g. the “jobs > demand” situation in German speaking markets.

From bankruptcy to boom with “zero investment” in “no time”. A Spanish business based on a conventional bookshelf system needed to reinvent itself out of bankruptcy during a deep national and sectoral crisis. Combining existing elements of the system in a smart way, we created several new uses and an attractive design for northern Europe. The new shelf system was marketed within a few weeks, was presented at the Milan furniture fair, won several Design prizes, and was exhibited in design museums.
