    Graduate Level Research in Human Factors, Anticipatory Driving Competence

    My PhD project investigates anticipatory driving competence, that is the ability of drivers to predict on future traffic conflicts and act on them early. In this project, I have conducted experiments using a driving simulator and eye tracking, and have developed my competencies to plan and design experiments, and manada data gathering, reduction and analysis.

    Graduate Level Research in Human Factors, Mine Traffic Optimization

    I was responsible for the research conducted in the Mine Traffic Optimization project, a collaboration with Barrick Gold, and funded through MITACS Accelerate. I conducted ethnographic research in several mining sites, analyzing especially the interaction between haul truck drivers and their dispatch system from a perspective of human-automation interaction. The project was succesfully completed in 2012. In 2011, I fast-tracked from the MASc program into the PhD program.

I got to know all operations of the company, absolving most of the practical side of the company's trainee program prior to working, among others, in their machining, assembly, and inspection and quality control sections. I also spent time in the company's technical office, working in production planning and reviewing and correcting technical drawings in AutoCAD.
