Sergio Delgado

Working on the concept generation, design, and development of company’s future line of implantable medical devices targeted for structural heart disease. Responsible for treatment/device concept generation, intellectual property generation, prototype design, prototype fabrication, and testing of device for proof of concept (feasibility- in-vitro - in-vivo). Heavy emphasis on Nitinol.

R&D and Manufacturing engineer of DuraHeart Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD, magnetically levitated centrifugal blood pump), an active-implantable FDA class III medical device targeted for the heart failure patient.

Design engineer of new products/models of industrial automated corrugated converting/printing machines. Heavy use of CAD (AutoCAD) and ASME Y14.41-2003 (GD&T). Created manufacturing, component, and assembly drawings. Created machine pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics. Tested and troubleshot machines and provided assistance to the manufacturing department.

Designed corporate electronic databases (Microsoft Access) for the support of the international project management office. Preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of pharmaceutical automatic assembly lines for liquid and solid formulations including blister process for compressed tablets, hard capsules, and laser inspection machines for sterile formulations.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates program sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Designed test equipment and executed testing for the analysis of soot volume fraction and temperature measurements in laminar non-premixed flames.
