Part of the the PANOPTES 'Peptide-based Nanoparticles as Ocular Drug Delivery Vehicles" under 7th Research Framework Programme of the European Union N-carboxyanhydride monomers were synthesized. Ring-opening polymerization facilitated synthesis of amphiphilic block-copolymers. Various polymers were self-assembled into nanoparticles and characterized by DLS and TEM measurements. In the Stichting BBB commission my task is to communicate with the participants of our event, the job-orentation fair. This fair gives students the possibility to make contact with potential employers, but it also gives employers the possibility to search for well-educated, hard-working specialists in the group of students. To achieve this well organized fair, the communication between commission and participants is crucial.

During this internship we want to develop a biosensor to detect allergens in food. Therefore the allergen had to isolated and also the receptor out of the human immune system. It has to be illustrated that both proteins bind in solution. Furthermore the proteins has to be immobilized.

During this internship the tRNA modification level in Familial dysautonomia patient cells was determined. It was shown that patients with this neurodegenerative disease lack a thiol modification in the anticodon of the tRNA due to an truncated protein product of the IKBKAP gene. Treating the cells with a vitamin derivate restores the modification level partially.
