Jan Schmitt

I conduct research on the role of headquarters in multinational organizations and on how they interact with subsidiaries. Furthermore, I teach international business and global strategy classes, and have been supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses.

I was staffed in the “Transportation, Travel & Infrastructure” practice where I worked on two projects. I conducted a competitor analysis and analyzed a customer survey to elaborate a new value proposition for a logistics provider. Additional analyses contributed to the development of a new delivery concept.

During my internship I supported the consulting team in developing a detailed concept and in conducting a feasibility study on the topic of “management control model to anchor a new organization” in direct collaboration with a leading industrial group.

Praktikum im Bereich Corporate Controlling mit verschiedenen Aufgabenfeldern, wie beispielsweise die Bereitstellung von makroökonomischen Informationen, die Pflege des Vertragsmanagements und allgemeinen Analysen.

I study the changing role of headquarters (HQs) in multinational corporations. In my dissertation, I focus on the emerging phenomenon of cross-border HQ relocations. Additionally, I am interested in how the ongoing digital transformation affects HQ roles and location choices.
