Dr. Laure Théveau

I worked on the development of new strategies in supramolecular asymmetric catalysis. Intellectually demanding, this project also involved the synthesis of air and moisture sensitive compounds which demands good organizational skills and precision. Other aspects of the project were the NMR study of the metal complexes formed as well as the development of chiral HPLC and GC methods for enantioselectivity determination. I also worked on a project involving the use of biocatalysis.

I studied the control of regioselectivity in catalytic direct C-H bond functionalization of heterocycles. The methodology was applied to the synthesis of biologically active molecules through a partnership with Janssen company. I made regular presentations of my results to Janssen collaborators. I supervised students in the laboratory (2nd to 3rd year BSc level) and taught organic chemistry practical work (1st year BSc level).

I synthesized drug candidates targeting a central nervous system GPCR antagonist. I proceeded to pharmacomodulation study according to biological test results.

I synthesized molecules for perfumery.

I synthesized 4-azaindole derivatives as Raf kinase inhibitors.
