Translator and editor for the U.S. Embassy in Panama. • Translating news articles (from various Latin American media outlets) • Scanning Spanish-language newspaper sources (from various Latin American media outlets) and writing summaries in English of reports on current events (economic issues, political affairs, crime and narcotics issues) that could be of interest to the Embassy’s audience

• Proofreading and editing sales proposals, and verifying that they comply with the company's standards, templates, and style preferences (this includes following the guidelines set by the AP Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style) before the final client reads them • Translating sales proposals from English into Spanish for Spanish-speaking clients, mostly those located in Spain, Mexico, and Argentina • Applying my expertise as a Microsoft Office power user to fix formatting issues within documents

Responsibilities: •Translating documents and news articles •Writing English summaries of radio and TV newscasts originally transmitted in Spanish •Scanning Spanish-language newspaper sources and writing summaries in English of articles on economic, political, and crime and narcotics issues Accomplishments: I had the opportunity to write summaries of the presidential candidates' speeches for the Panamanian elections in May 2009, as well as of former President Ricardo Martinelli's inauguration speech

(Temporary position to cover a maternity leave) Responsibilities: •Translation of official documents: demarches, letters and other correspondence, trafficking in persons reports, post-mortem reports, extradition reports, others. •Ad-hoc interpretation at official meetings. Accomplishments: •I had the opportunity to serve as an interpreter at a high-profile meeting between officials from the Panamanian Foreign Ministry and a U.S. expert in nuclear weapons who was in Panama to discuss Iran's nuclear program.

• Translation of technical and marketing documents—sales and advertising brochures, interactive sales presentations, product web pages—as well as computer-based training programs: translation of text as well as editing content, format, and graphics • Using desktop publishing software to edit and fix the formatting of documents
