Explored new application fields for wood products, composite materials, polymers, construction materials, glues, insulating materials, polyurethanes, flame retardants, polyamides, resins, sol-gels, foams, coatings, corrosion protection agents; led laboratory teams up to 10 technicians, managed research laboratories, initiated and led multiple R&D projects, scouted for new technologies and applied them for product development, represented BASF on conferences. *BASF Global Innovation Award 2009 finalist.

Led laboratory team of 3 laboratory technicians to create new polyols for polyurethanes, melamine urea formaldehyde resins, led exploratory research project to invent new types of hyperbranched polymers based on urea and melamine.

Managed existing and developed new products, created and introduced to market new packaging design for consumer article.

Prepared research strategy and project proposals in field of organic and polymer chemistry, synthesized block and statistical copolymers in laboratory.

Attempted to create extraordinary supramolecular ion channels based on polyaromatic compounds through multistep organic syntheses in laboratory, performed peptide syntheses in solution.

Focus: Extensive (~1 week each) trainings in chosen disciplines. Sessions: Polymer science (Heraklion, 09.2000), computer simulations (Borkum, 03.2001), biopolymers (Borkum, 03.2001), polymer syntheses (Berlin, 09.2001), symposium and exchange with research groups at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology /ETH/ (Zurich, 05.2002). *Access to International Max-Planck Polymer Research School was obtained through selection process.

Thesis: “5-Substituted Triazolinyls as Novel Counter Radicals in Controlled Radical Polymerization”. Focus: Multistep organic synthesis of stable free radicals, investigation of their properties, controlled radical polymerization in their presence, kinetic investigations of the polymerization process, syntheses of block-copolymers, analyses of the products (ESR, NMR, chromatography, mass-spectroscopy and other methods). *PhD work was financed through scholarship granted by Max-Planck-Institute.

Diploma: “Surfactant-Free Emulsion Polymerization of Methylmethacrylate as a Method of Preparation of Monosize Latex Microspheres”. Focus: Surfactant free emulsion polymerization to produce monosize latex to be employed as carrier for diseases screening toolkits, kinetic investigations of polymerization process, characterization of obtained latex. *Higher grants for good progress have been awarded several times.
