Support, advise and act for the Division Head in internal and external matters. Review and approval of internal and external publications and business relevant data. Support of communication strategies and preparation of presentations for the Division Head. Leading divisional and cross-divisional / -functional projects within BASF. Addressing inquiries from BASF´s Board of Directors or the Resort Head.

Managing, coaching and developing an international and interdisciplinary team of postgraduates and technicians. Responsible for strategic vision, EHS, budget, management of the laboratory, recruitment, legal framework. Development and management of global and interdisciplinary cross-divisional projects. Regular presentation at high level internal management meetings and international scientific and leadership meetings.

Laboratory team leader at the “Ammonlabor” developing liquid-phase oxidation processes for large chemical products, e.g. acrylicacid derivatives. Screening and development of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts for liquid-phase oxidation reactions (batch and continuous flow processes). Planning, supervision and evaluation of experiments and analytical methods. Safety responsibility and documentation/patenting of experimental results. Personal responsibility (supervision of up to 5 technicians).

Strategic business management. How to keep the big picture, the ability to develop simple solutions, even in complex situations. Practical application of analysis tools & instruments. Creativity and foresight in search of future strategy. Plausible strategic targets and their implication.

Analyses of financial plans, controlling reports, cost accounting and budgets. Planning internal growth while keeping up financial stability and profitability, logics and options for increasing shareholder value. Optimizing capital employed, managing liquidity. Valuation, mergers & acquisitions.
