Óliver Centeno Álvarez

I am in charge for the areas of Project Management, Business Intelligence and Systems Analysis & Design. Related to technical consultancy, I act as an expert in several technologies related to software development. During these projects I coach team members into those technologies and manage the problems they may have if they are already using the technology. Related to management, I work with managers and teams to detect unnecessary processes and improvement areas in their projects and their management.

I was assigned to an on-going project with a clear lack of control and I had the responsibility of dealing with both, the current project manager and the client, in order to fix several project incidences. I had to signal the best and worst practices such as use of realistic estimations, and incorporating of new team members when the delivery is compromised. On the other hand, I also was involved with a healthy project where I experienced the benefits of proactive management.

As Team Leader I reported to the Operations Manager, and had 5 people at my charge. My duty was decomposing scope and scheduling time on my projects, one of my common challenges being the lack of team members to meet deadlines. I had the restriction of using «Métrica v3» as Project Management Methodology which is a dare on small projects. My greatest achievement was adapting our processes to CMMi-DEV level-2 and being responsible for 3 of the 4 projects you hold for the SCAMPI evaluation.

During this period I was outsourced to Microsoft Innovation Center Mobility Solutions to perform the role of Systems Analyst in a cluster project involving several companies interested in a common development framework for mobile devices. I was in charge of the technical analysis and design of solutions to several communication issues related to Windows Mobile devices, such as GPS, 3G, and other features e.g. Audio Control. I reported to the Project Manager and had a programmer at my charge.
