Rachel Dickstein

I am responsible for creating new pedagogical formats in order to transmit GDR history and an understanding of present-day Western political systems to refugees and vocational school students. I then create networks and promote my educational materials to major stakeholders within these communities as well as organize trainings for guides on transmission formats.

I provide tours in French and English of the most preserved part of the former Berlin Wall.

I provide tours and through the former concentration camp in German, French, and English to teach visitors about National Socialist politics and the Holocaust. I also create and lead day- and week-long workshops on historical and political topics (such as right-wing extremism) for high school and university students.

I create and provide tours in English and French for visitors of the former central headquarters of the Ministry of State Security (East German secret police).

I lead visitors in German, English, and French through the former central interrogation center of the Ministry of State Security (East German secret police).

I acted as an administrative project manager for several of our major accounts. My responsibilities included: managing materials and other logistics for our Accelerated Strengths Course certification program; setting up job interviews with our talent analysts in order to evaluate the candidates' fit within our clients' brands and work environments; and managing and coordinating the Clifton StrengthsFinder tests and Strengths coaching for our clients' managers and employees.

I translated German texts to English for the German company EMP, using MemoQ as my primary CAT-tool.

I catalogued former prisoners' biographies and literary remnants in both French and German in a databank for Director Prof. Dr. Günter Morsch's latest book on the concentration camp. Additionally, I spent a week shadowing Arne Pannen in the Pedagogical Department to learn more about the memorial's educational programs and international summer workshops.

I photographed concerts and wrote up on them on the Freight blog for the purposes of promoting the concert hall and the music groups. I also researched ways in which to use social media to improve Freight publicity.

I prepared review sessions and held weekly office hours to aid students in studying for quizzes and exams. I also graded quizzes and exams and provided feedback for the students. The highlight of my experience as a T/A was having the opportunity to give a guest lecture to the introductory course on 1980s American hardcore punk music and theory.

I catalogued and analyzed brochures and newspaper articles on British music festivals for Prof. McGuire's next publication on British music history.
