Stefan Beer-Rutte

The Hague is known as the City of Peace and Justice due to its international courts. I manage communication activities to strengthen this brand and to attract new residents, companies, visitors, students and organisations to the city. I coordinate partnerships with universities, cultural organisations, governmental departments, companies and NGOs. In addition, I am responsible for strategic aspects of communication projects in sustainability, transport and housing policies and for mentoring colleagues.

Get It Done is an online crowd funding platform for small human-needs development projects all over the world. Get It Done provides tools that allow individuals to donate to a project, promote a project online through social media, set up and own a project anywhere in the world and organise a corporate supported programme. As Projects Team Manager it is my responsibility to support eight project coaches, validate and edit project applications and develop manuals and on going training.

Beaumont is a PR agency that specializes in PR and marketing in urban development projects. During my time at Beaumont I was involved with the management of the external communication department of a large district (Feijenoord) in Rotterdam. In addition I was responsible for marketing campaigns for new suburban areas, organising and heading information meetings and the investigation of a course on ‘location marketing’.

As Senior Press Officer I was spokesperson and press advisor for several councillors. I was involved mainly in the field of Urban Development, including policies on housing, transport, environment and ICT. A signification project was the media relations management of the construction of a new subway line, a project plagued with an array of problems. As Senior Communications Manager I established a new crisis communication manual for the city, organised crisis trainings and managed campaigns.

This course offers professionals the insight, tools and attitude to integrate global sustainability issues into their work. It tackles the main issues in international sustainable development and focuses on international, multidisciplinary and cross-sector solutions.

The Masters of Social Environmental Sciences offers insights in environmental issues from a sociological, psychological, political and anthropological perspective. I specialised on the cross-over of environmental sciences and communication sciences.
