Frederic Harnisch

In my role with Brightsparks, an agency that supplies staff to event organisers, I worked as Event and Hospitality Staff, where I gained valuable experience in customer service and teamwork within a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment. The role required me to adapt quickly to the needs of different events, engage directly with guests, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of services.

During my final year at Lancaster University, I worked at the Lancaster University Law Clinic, an experience that gave me practical exposure to advising clients while balancing the academic pressures of my LLB studies. Managing both responsibilities simultaneously was challenging, but it strengthened my resilience, time management, and ability to prioritise effectively, all of which will be invaluable in fast-paced environments.

In September 2024, I undertook a three-week legal internship at Squire Patton Boggs, which provided me with a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of an international law firm and the lifecycle of client projects. This experience built upon my earlier legal exposure and allowed me to appreciate how matters progress from initial instructions through to delivery of advice. My responsibilities included drafting legal memorandums, researching local law, and attending client meetings.

In March 2019, I completed a week-long legal internship at Schluter Graf, which provided me with my first professional insight into the legal industry and strongly influenced my decision to pursue a career in law. This early experience allowed me to observe how a commercial law firm operates and the high level of precision and professionalism required in practice. My responsibilities included drafting legal documents under supervision and attending internal meetings.
