I currently manage a team of eight people across two disciplines in the MI R&D group. My role includes: 1. Team/technical leadership to the team, professional development of the people, retention and development of expertise within the team; 2. Coordination of internal resources to satisfy the internal projects; 3. Coordination of external R&D resources at two international locations; 4. Integration management - tools and people; 5. Collation of information and dissemination to customers/upper management

I manage a team of 6 people across the thermal disciplines in the Mechanical Integrity Gas Turbine R&D group. The role involves: 1. Providing technical leadership and support to the team; 2. Development and retention of team expertise and know-how; 3. Proper allocation of resources; 4. Dissemination of results to internal customers; and 5. Coordination of external R&D resources at international locations.

I simulate GT engines using a finite element tool over a range of operational modes to determine the thermal behaviour of the engine. This information is subsequently employed to determine the life time and clearances of the components within the engine. Lead thermal engineer in two internal projects focused on the development and amelioration of GT engine components.

Research engineer, part of the Bell Labs Ireland Thermal Management and Eco-Sustainability Research Group. New thermal solutions are designed and tested during my period here using analytical, computational and experimental techniques. These solutions are subsequently applied to the telecommunications industry. My research is specifically focused on heat pipes, 3D heat sinks, thermal connectors, TECs and thermal interface materials (TIMs). Currently involved in organising the Bell Labs lecture series.

• Representative on the review board for the audit of Plassy Campus Centre’s review structure. • Mandated from the Irish Universities Quality Board, all support departments in a University must develop a quality management system. • Participated in meetings and interviews to acquire data for the review report. • Participated in developing a report highlighting recommendations for the improvement of Plassy Campus Centre’s quality assurance and improvement system.

• Teaching of 5th Year Physics and Biology Classes, and 1st-3rd year general science classes. • Development of lesson plans and material for each scientific lesson. • Supervised free classes for absent teachers.
