Initiative Lead Payments ISO 20022 Global Transformation

My role as Initiative Manager at UBS is to transform cross-border correspondent banking from SWIFT MT to SWIFT MX (XML) payment format in light of ISO 20022 adoption program to set the global ISO standard for the future. For UBS, that’s a multi-year regulatory initiative across the globe with a total of 38 subsidiaries and branches. ISO 20022 is not only a mandatory initiative, it's a watershed moment for banks to bring Payments service offering, automation and data analytics to the next level.

- Leading Integrated Process Optimizations (IPOs) / Proof of Concepts (PoCs) across Operations - Efficiency gains realized through Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Cognitive i.e. Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Reconciliation & Control, Data Analytics as well as applying Way of Working best practices - In total > 10 FTEs worth of cost avoidance / cost savings identified based on 11 IPOs / PoCs over the past 17 months

- Front to Back Program/Project Lead for the implementation of the Financial Market Infrastructure Act under article 104 i.e. Regulatory Transaction Reporting - Implemented Regulatory Transaction Reporting in scope, on time and on budget (CHF 8m) - Manage full project lifecycle E2E across divisions/regions and across products - Manage approx. 20 Business Analysts / local Project Managers globally - Hold daily stand-ups with the core team, bi-weekly program status calls with up to 50 stakeholders

- Managed, coached & mentored Project Managers on a weekly basis - Managed the bank's project management staffing level in order for the business to have the right level of head count to deliver projects according to baseline - Span of control: 30 Project Managers (AD/D level)

- Managed the Legal Infrastructure Change Programme “White” as the "Migration Manager" from a Cash & Trade Finance point of view to segregate WM from the IB business driven by Too Big To Fail (TBTF) - Products included FX, MM, PM, Cash Management, Payments, Liquidity Management Trade Finance - Carried out migration following activity-level run-books making sure cutover is done smooth and in a controlled fashion - Special assignment: Project Manager for "Cancel/Rebooks" (~50'000 trades) F2B

- Articulated strategy to transform former FXMM Ops Reporting into Analytics - Executed strategy to start offering extended service catalogue acting as the key enabler for the organization to accommodate regulatory requirements (Dodd Frank, EMIR), perform ad-hoc analysis to support management to understand business and support stakeholders in achieving process optimization - Built up and managed 2 teams globally i.e. one in Zurich and one in Hyderabad

- Project Portfolio Manager for IB Ops Precious Metals globally - E2E responsibility of business projects, IT, cross divisional initiatives as well as regulatory driven themes - Co-lead of two IT scrum teams as the Precious Metals “Product Owner” - Overall 15% STP ratio increase achieved by continuous process improvements (Six Sigma / Lean Management) in order to run business more cost-effective - F2B senior stakeholder management up to and including MD level

- Responsible for a compliant process landscape in FXMM Ops Banknotes - Manage business cases (new business, plan expansion of existing business, apply process excellence to become more efficient and effective) - Design, development and implementation of a new MIS reporting - Special assignment: Project Lead of a major cross-divisional reorganization

- Operational Risk Analyst - Responsible for the analysis, reporting as well as escalation of Operational Risk for the products OTC Derivatives, ETD as well as Investment Funds - Chair weekly risk review meetings with senior management up to MD level - Lead regular risk identification workshops and education sessions

- Act as a middleman role between the Business and IT to manage change requests for the UBS IB global reconciliation tool “Rex”
