We build, maintain and operate the BKW distribution grid, the largest in Switzerland, at highest possible levels of availability and safety. We achieve cost effectiveness through highly trained employees and professional equipment while beeing highgly effective in fast restoration, in case of outages. All our expertise we offer to customers who run their own electric grids or installations, such as other transmission or distribution grid operators, railroad operators, municipalities or companies.

BKW Energie AG operates the largest distribution grid in Switzerland. The responsibility of my team is to ensure 24/7 safe operation of that grid at highest possible availability and cost effectiveness. Furthermore, my team is responsible for the engineering and updating of the IT system as well as the operational network. Our services extend to the operation of water power plants, water supply systems, railway electricity grids, offering connectivity based on fiber optics, etc.

Lead a team of highly trained senior professionals. Develop people, organization and processes. Member of strategy department of the grid division. Responsibility: Strategy for product and services (B2B), development of new opportunities, life cycle management in established business areas, measure and report on business results, advice for corrective measures. Identify and assess (TRL 5-7) technology for future business by means of R&D co-operations with academic partners. Manage innovation process.

Responsibility: Identification and assessment of technology needs for future business. Prepare and explain technology maps supporting strategy development on senior management level. Build and maintain network to internal and external stakeholders. Initiate R&D projects (contents, resources, rights on results) and supervise projects.

Field of responsibility: Support of CTO’s strategy by deriving requirements for future turbocharging systems and devices for air/gas management from simulation and lab tests. Initiate and supervise research cooperations. Develop and manage SW for numeric simulation of large turbocharged diesel and gas engines. Secure IP rights. Training and support of application engineers worldwide.

Responsibilty: Support of CTO’s strategy by deriving requirements for turbocharging systems and other devices for air/gas management from numeric simulation and lab tests of future large diesel and gas engines for power plant, marine, off highway and railway applications in terms of power output, fuel consumption, emissions, responsiveness. Secure IP rights. Training and support of application engineers worldwide.

Responsible for optimizing large diesel and gas engines for power plant, marine, off highway and railway applications in terms of power output, fuel consumption, emissions, responsiveness at typical site conditions. Results are used for supporting application engineers and for deriving requirements for future turbochargers (but also components for air/gas management and exhaust gas treatment). Train application engineers. Lead of R&D projects. Protect ideas with patents, review competitor’s patents.
